El próximo 2 de mayo, a las 22 horas y en la Plaza de la Constitución de Maliaño, estrenamos Boleros y flamencos, según coreografía de Myriam González-Gay, dentro de la III Fiesta Homenaje a Pedro Velarde.
La escuela bolera, subgénero de la danza española, que se apoya en la danza clásica, se consolida, tomando como base los bailes populares españoles. En el XIX a las boleras se las conoce también como baile español o nacional, pues se convierte en una de las expresiones musicales y dancísticas representativas del movimiento nacionalista de la época. Si bien, paralelamente, durante este mismo siglo, la manifestación experimentará una curiosa mezcla con los denominados bailes andaluces, hasta el punto de ser estos sinónimos de la escuela bolera. Dentro de su vasta y rica gama de bailes de distinta procedencia regional, durante la época contemporánea tanto el flamenco como la escuela bolera se enriquecen mutuamente, incorporando numerosos pasos y mudanzas, que proporcionan mayor vistosidad y lucimiento al espectáculo.
Boleros y flamencos intenta mostrar esas variantes de la danza española que culminaron en el denominado baile español. Así, lo conforman danzas boleras, flamencas y estilizadas, que aún siendo de libre creación coreográfica, su contenido estilístico está basado en las danzas populares (folclore), la escuela bolera y el flamenco en la cual se combinan los pasos de una forma creativa y original.
